Happy New Year!!

This was the day that the boys took over the art area, and made some awesome things!

Picnic time!

Making paper bags into snowman heads.

We filled balloons with water and left them outside overnight on one of our very cold days. The next day they were frozen solid!

When we brought them inside we peeled the balloons off the balls of ice and sprinkled them with salt to see what would happen.  The salt melted some of the ice.

Then we used droppers and put watercolors on the ice- they turned into beautiful works of art!

Mrs. Downey reading some great pirate stories to us!

We put watercolor paints in the freezer overnight and then painted with them the next day.

It was like painting with a popsicle, but you couldn't eat the paint!

Yoga...Bird tree...Bulletin board...book buddy...bear cave...Sing-a-long with Mr. T!

The Parent association held a special Yoga class as an enrichment activity in December- it was lots of fun!

We decorated the big pine tree with edible ornaments for the birds that we made in class.  We have been learning how birds survive the winter here in Massachusetts, as well as how to identify some of the ones who spend the winter here, like the tufted titmouse, the blue jay, chickadee, and downy woodpecker.  We filled up the bird feeders in front of the school too and we'll be counting the different kinds of birds that we observe coming to feed there in the next few months.

Decorating our cardinal bulletin board in the classroom.

Mr. B. read us some great holiday stories!

We made a paper mache bear cave and then made a woodland scene with things we found in the woods outside.  We like to play with our forest animals in it.

Cranberry table... next we'll fill it with snow, if we ever get any!

Mr. T. singing holiday songs with us at our party.
