Animal tracking....owls... tortillas!

The other day we had enough of a snowfall and a beautiful day that made the conditions perfect for looking for animal tracks in the woods in the snow.  We saw many different kinds.  We thought these might have been from a mouse.

Mrs. P. reading some fun stories... and then she gave us all a lollipop!

Making tortillas with SeƱora Amy- we ate them with salsa and cheese. Delicious!

Pokemon cards!

Another awesome building!

SNOW!!

We've been doing a lot of snow-related activities in our class, and were wondering when we were going to get some of the real thing.  We were very excited when we finally did last week!

Mr. T. being the book buddy.

Hooray for snow!!

Playing the ice cube game- you roll the dice and  then have to do something with an ice cube- hopefully you don't get the number that says you have to put the ice cube down your shirt!

Cooperative snowmen

We divided the class into teams and gave the children all they needed to create some awesome snow people.  Here's what the process looked like:

Happy New Year!!

This was the day that the boys took over the art area, and made some awesome things!

Picnic time!

Making paper bags into snowman heads.

We filled balloons with water and left them outside overnight on one of our very cold days. The next day they were frozen solid!

When we brought them inside we peeled the balloons off the balls of ice and sprinkled them with salt to see what would happen.  The salt melted some of the ice.

Then we used droppers and put watercolors on the ice- they turned into beautiful works of art!

Mrs. Downey reading some great pirate stories to us!

We put watercolor paints in the freezer overnight and then painted with them the next day.

It was like painting with a popsicle, but you couldn't eat the paint!
